In the Grade I Hooke church’s intimate space with its bright acoustic (Robert Hooke worked on St Paul’s Cathedral’s famous Whispering Gallery).
Friday 13th March 13.00 – 14.30 free author talk with Sir Dermot Turing– Misread Signals: How History Overlooked Women Codebreakers, in St Mary’s Willena, a building created by another overlooked visionary: the 17th‑century polymath Robert Hooke. Sir Dermot highlights the vital contributions of women at Bletchley Park and pushes the sector to address gender disparity today. His links with Bletchley Park, the National Museum of Computing and the College’s Institute of Technology have also helped shape MK.
Tuesday 17th March the next season of free TTTT concerts 12.30 – 13.30 begins and continues on the third Tuesday of each month until end of November (excluding August).
Friday 15th May 18.30 free talk from Tim Skelton: Frank Lloyd Wright’s influence on the architecture of Milton Keynes followed by screening of The Fountainhead (1949) which Frank Lloyd Wright inspired. Tim Skelton is a long‑standing Milton Keynes planner, heritage advocate and commentator on the city’s development.
Tuesday 16th June early evening (time t.b.c.) MK Heritage Assn introduction to Willen village and its Grade 1 Robert Hooke built church. MK Heritage Association champions local history, and supports heritage projects across Milton Keynes, North Buckinghamshire and South Northamptonshire. Walk will be followed by its AGM in Willen Hospice conservatory.
Saturday 18th July free Robert Hooke birth anniversary celebration day at his Willen church. Music, activities, plant sale, refreshments. All welcome.
September 11th to 20th open throughout National Heritage Open Days Festival. The Grade I Hooke St. Mary Magdalene Church will be open to visitors everyday throughout the festival and running a festival programme.
